Is Jesus the Only Way?

Many people reject the idea that Jesus is the exclusive way to salvation. But what does the Bible say? Below are passages that show that Jesus did not say He was a way, or one the ways…but that He was the only way to salvation:

Luke 12:8-9 “And I say to you, anyone who acknowledges Me before men, the Son of Man will also acknowledge him before the angels of God, but whoever denies Me before men will be denied before the angels of God.

John 1:12-13 But to all who did receive Him, He gave them the right to be children of God, to those who believe in His name, who were born, not of blood, or of the will of the flesh, or of the will of man, but of God.

John 3:14 “Just as Moses lifted up the snake in the wilderness, so the Son of Man must be lifted up, so that everyone who believes in Him will have eternal life.”

John 3:16-18   “For God loved the world in this way: He gave His One and Only Son, so that everyone who believes in Him will not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send His Son into the world that He might condemn the world, but that the world might be saved through Him. Anyone who believes in Him is not condemned, but anyone who does not believe is already condemned, because he has not believed in the name of the One and Only Son of God.”

John 3:36. John the Baptist speaking: “The one who believes in the Son has eternal life, but the one who refuses to believe in the Son will not see life; instead, the wrath of God remains on him.”

John 5:39-40. “You pore over the Scriptures because you think you have eternal life in them, yet they testify about Me. And you are not willing to come to Me that you may have life.”

John 6:28 “What can we do to perform the works of God?” they asked. Jesus replied, “This is the work of God: that you believe in the One He has sent.”

John 6:40 “For this is the will of My Father: that everyone who sees the Son and believes in Him may have eternal life, and I will raise him up on the last day.”

John 6:47 “I assure you: Anyone who believes has eternal life. I am the bread of life.”

John 6:53-58: So Jesus said to them, “I assure you: Unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink His blood, you do not have life in yourselves. Anyone who eats My flesh and drinks My blood has eternal life, and I will raise him up on the last day, because My flesh is real food and My blood is real drink. The one who eats My flesh and drinks My blood lives in Me, and I in him. Just as the living Father sent Me and I live because of the Father, so the one who feeds on Me will live because of Me. This is the bread that came down from heaven; it is not like the manna your fathers ate—and they died. The one who eats this bread will live forever.”

John 7:38 “The one who believes in Me, as the Scripture said, will have streams of living water flow from deep within him.”

John 8:24 “Therefore I told you that you will die in your sins. For if you do not believe that I am, you will die in your sins.”

John 10:1 “I assure you: Anyone who doesn’t enter the sheep pen by the door but climbs in some other way, is a thief and a robber.”

John 10:9 “I am the door. If anyone enters by Me, he will be saved and will come in and go out and find pasture.”

John 10:27-28 “My sheep hear My voice, I know them, and they follow Me. I give them eternal life, and they will never perish—ever! No one will snatch them out of My hand.”

John 11:25-26 Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in Me, even if he dies, will live. Everyone who lives and believes in Me will never die—ever. Do you believe this?”

John 14:1 “Your heart must not be troubled. Believe in God; believe also in Me.”

John 14:6 Jesus told him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.”

John 15:4-8 “Remain in Me, and I in you. Just as a branch is unable to produce fruit by itself unless it remains on the vine, so neither can you unless you remain in Me. I am the vine; you are the branches. The one who remains in Me and I in him produces much fruit, because you can do nothing without Me. If anyone does not remain in Me, he is thrown aside like a branch and he withers. They gather them, throw them into the fire, and they are burned. If you remain in Me and My words remain in you, ask whatever you want and it will be done for you. My Father is glorified by this; that you produce much fruit and prove to be My disciples.”

John 15:23 “The one who hates Me also hates My Father.”

John 15:26 “When the Counselor comes, the One I will send to you from the Father—the Spirit of truth who proceeds from the Father—He will testify about Me.”

John 16:8-11 “When He (the Counselor) comes, He will convict the world about sin, righteousness, and judgment: about sin, because they do not believe in Me; about righteousness, because I am going to the Father and you will no longer see Me; and about judgment, because the ruler of this world has been judged.”

John 17:3  “This is eternal life: that they may know You, the only true God, and the One You have sent—Jesus Christ.”

John 20:31 But these are written so that you may believe Jesus is the Messiah, the Son of God, and by believing you may have life in His name.”

Acts 2:38 “Repent,” Peter said to them, “and be baptized, each of you, in the name of Jesus the Messiah for the forgiveness of your sins, and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.”

Acts 4:12 (Spoken by Peter) “There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to people by which we must be saved.”

Acts 10:44 (Spoken by Peter about Jesus) “All the prophets testify about Him that through His name everyone who believes in Him will receive forgiveness of sins.”

Acts 16:31 Then he escorted them out and said, “Sirs, what must I do to be saved?”

So they (Paul and Silas) said, “Believe on the Lord Jesus and you will be saved—you and your household.”

Romans 3:21-26 But now, apart from the law, God’s righteousness has been revealed—attested by the Law and the Prophets—that is, God’s righteousness through faith in Jesus Christ, to all who believe, since there is no distinction. For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God. They are justified freely by His grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus. God presented Him as a propitiation through faith in His blood, to demonstrate His righteousness, because in His restraint God passed over the sins previously committed. He presented Him to demonstrate His righteousness at the present time, so that He would be righteous and declare righteous the one who has faith in Jesus.

Romans 10:9 This is the message of faith that we proclaim: if you confess with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.

1 Timothy 1:16 But I received mercy because of this, so that in me, the worst [of sinners], Christ Jesus might demonstrate the utmost patience as an example to those who would believe in Him for eternal life.

1 John 5:12-13 The one who has the Son has life. The one who doesn’t have the Son of God does not have life. I have written these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, so that you may know that you have eternal life.
